Cases We Treat

From everyday concerns to urgent conditions, we’re here to help.

The cases that need another way forward.

We treat urgent illness, injuries and a wide range of surgical cases.

Many of our patients reach us because the recommended treatment elsewhere was financially out of reach. Our job is to look at the patient in front of us and ask: What can we safely and realistically do to help?

Urgent illness & injury

We see dogs and cats with urgent illnesses and injuries and have access to diagnostics including bloodwork and X-rays where appropriate.

Urgent surgery

Surgery is a major part of what we do. Cases currently treated include:

  • Foreign body removal

  • Pyometra

  • Cystotomy and urinary obstruction cases

  • Wound repair

  • C-sections

  • Selected limb amputations

Working within constraints

Our approach is based on a pragmatic spectrum of care approach.

We understand what ideal care looks like. But when the ideal isn't accessible, we ask whether there is another medically reasonable route forward.

That might mean prioritising the diagnostics or interventions most likely to change the outcome. It might mean accepting more uncertainty and communicating that clearly with the client. And sometimes it means recognising that a patient genuinely needs more than we can provide. Or compassionately guiding a family when, no matter the skill or money available, the kindest option is to say goodbye.

Practical medicine isn't careless medicine.

It's using the evidence, your clinical judgement and the resources available to find the best realistic option for that patient.
